Module 9 – Manufacturing Management

ABPR1103 STATISTICS FOR PSYCHOLOGY – To enhance learners’ knowledge about the representation of data, hypothesis testing and statistical analysis.

REQUIREMENT

PART I

A local school headmaster has hosted research. He gathers information on a student’s ability hours to prepare on the quiz score on memorizing the multiplication table. Table 1 below shows the results for the twenty-five students. Finding discovered that 14.6 was the average quiz score.

Based on Table 1 above:

  • Use a graphical representation to demonstrate the two variables that are supplied (separately), along with the measures of dispersion and central tendency.
  • Develop a hypothesis that should be analyzed using t-test by utilizing the five steps of hypothesis testing. Students must finish stage 1 through 5 of the hypotheses testing process and demonstrate their calculations.
  • Integrate the findings into four paragraphs discussion with current research evidence.

PART 2: POWERPOINT SLIDES AND VIDEO PRESENTATION (20%)

You are required to record your presentation on one of the causal modelling methods. Organize your content into PowerPoint slides and deliver a presentation on the topic. The presentation must be recorded within 15 minutes, and the video is required to be uploaded in a separate video file (MPEG/mp4/etc.). Kindly test your video recording before submission to avoid any technical glitches. The video presentation must have the following criteria:

  1. Discussion: Causal modelling methods. You can discuss about path analysis, mediational analysis and structural equation modelling (Causal modeling is a statistical method used to determine the causal relationship between variables. There are three methods of causal modeling: path analysis, mediational analysis, and structural equation modeling.Path analysis is an older method in statistics but remains popular nowadays. It was developed by Sewall Wright to examine if a group of variables (non-experimental data) predicts a specific causal model. Path analysis shows us the significant relationships between the variables and eliminates the insignificant variables, which may further lead to a new model of the theory.Mediational analysis is a type of path analysis that examines whether a recognized causal relationship between two variables is intervened by the mediator variable (M). The mediational model looks like a diagram, where the mediator variable is placed between the independent variable and the dependent variable. There are two types of mediational analysis: partially mediated and fully mediated.Structural equation modeling is a complicated version of path analysis. It incorporates paths with underlying, unmeasured, theoretical variables, allows a kind of significance test, and provides measures of fit index. Structural equation modeling is useful when the researcher wants to examine the relationship between multiple variables and how they interact with each other. However, it is important to remember that no matter how wonderful a method is, the ideas are proposed by the researcher. In other words, whilst one may perfectly predict the paths and have an exceptional fit structural equation model, it also says that the possibility of other causal patterns could operate equally well or even better.)

The video must consist of both the presenter’s appearance and the slideshow. Please ensure that the audio and video are clear and free of interruptions. You are expected to submit the slides from your PowerPoint presentation and also the video presentation through the platform that has been provided to you by the Assessment and Examination Division.

PART II

Online Class Participation

This part requires students to participate actively in the MyINSPIRE eforum. Discuss the following topics with your tutor and peers in the eforum online discussion and then submit proof of your participation.

As a psychologist, you are curious to find out if purchasing on the mobile gadgets is depending on the brand of the phone and gender preferences among Gen Z. Discuss about the research methodology you’ll be using and the statistical analysis you’ll be using.
