Objective

The aim of this assignment is to critically examine Malaysia’s journey post-independence from Western colonisation, the implementation of the Sejahtera philosophy, and its relevance to current societal challenges. Students will analyze the extent of Malaysia’s decolonization through examples like language policy and legal systems, understand the principles of Sejahtera and its impact on Malaysian society, and investigate a current issue, such as mental health, through the lens of Sejahtera. This will provide a comprehensive view of Malaysia’s development and the practical application of its philosophies in modern times.

Holding  elections  is  one  of  the  decolonisation  processes  that  allows  colonies  to  be independent and rule on their own.

(a)  After 64 years of being an independent country, do you think that Malaysia is free from the  influence  of Western  colonisation?  Provide three (3) examples  to  support  your opinion.

(b)  Explain  the  philosophy  of  Sejahtera  and  the  elements  in  this  philosophy  that  are introduced to Malaysian citizens;

(c)  Describe one (1) current issue that is related this philosophy.
